Videoconferencing
Videoconferencing is used extensively throughout the University for teaching purposes. The University provides central facilities, training and technical support as well as a range of resources to assist staff and students in preparing for, and using, the medium.
You will find technical and administrative information about the centrally managed facilities (through IT Resources) at www.utas.edu.au/itr/videoconf/.
There is also a draft policy: Policy and Standards on Videoconference Training for Teaching Staff [PDF]. This policy mandates (through the head of school) minimum training for staff planning to engage in videoconference teaching for the first time.
Below you will find information and resources about using videoconferencing for teaching purposes.
Effective Videoconference Teaching (EVT)
The University provides a staff training program that covers both the technical and educational aspects of videoconference teaching. For further details go to: www.utas.edu.au/staffdev/tl/videoconf.htm and the Professional Development section of this website.
