First Year Teaching Forum

The FYTF is an initiative of the Student Transition and Retention Taskforce aimed at providing staff teaching and involved in first year with a forum to discuss and improve the first year experience at UTAS. 

When and Where

This year the Forum will be held on Tuesday the 27th of October, from 10.00am - 3.30pm in the UniCentre on the Sandy Bay Campus in Hobart.

Keynote Speakers

Professor Keithia Wilson (Griffith University):  Professor Wilson was the 2007 recipient of the Prime Minister's Award for Australian University Teacher of the Year, and was Keynote Speaker at the recent First Year in Higher Education Conference.

Associate Professor Alf Lizzio (Griffith University):  Associate Professor Lizzio was a 2008 recipient of an ALTC Teaching Excellence Award.

This year's forum theme focuses on implementing a transition pedagogy, following on from Professor Sally Kift's Keynote Address to the FYTF in 2008 on the principles of First Year Curriculum Design. Professor Wilson and Associate Professor Lizzio  will speak about `Institutional and Programmatic Interventions for Success in First Year'.
